Painting for Barrie Homes and Businesses
Barrie Homes Need Different Prep
Barrie wraps around the western end of Kempenfelt Bay on Lake Simcoe. Its housing ranges from century homes near downtown, Allandale and the east end to the 1960s to 1980s neighbourhoods north of the bay, the large family subdivisions of Holly, Ardagh and Painswick, and brand-new builds along Mapleview Drive in the south end.
Barrie sits in Ontario's snowbelt, so long winters, heavy snow and repeated freeze-thaw cycles are hard on exterior paint and stain, and many Barrie homes are now at the age when original trim, oak kitchens and builder-grade paint are being updated.
A century home near downtown, a 1990s two-storey in Holly with oak trim and an oak kitchen, and a brand-new build in the south end all need different preparation and products. Older homes often have plaster and oil-based trim; newer homes usually have builder-grade paint that scuffs easily. We plan each job around the house in front of us.
Interior Painting, Cabinets and Ceilings
Inside, our interior painting covers walls, ceilings, trim and doors, with drywall repair, wallpaper removal and popcorn ceiling removal handled before the first coat. Kitchen cabinet painting gives a dated kitchen a new look without the cost of new cabinetry.
Exterior Painting, Staining and Masonry
Outside, snowbelt winters, freeze-thaw cycles and summer sun are hard on paint. Our exterior house painting starts with washing, scraping, caulking and priming, and we also paint aluminum and vinyl siding, brick and stucco, and stain decks and fences.
Painters in Central Barrie
Central Barrie covers the oldest parts of the city: downtown around Dunlop Street, the former railway village of Allandale on the south shore of the bay, and the mature east-end streets of Codrington and the North Shore. Homes here include century houses, mid-century homes on treed lots and newer waterfront condos.
Painters in North Barrie
North Barrie takes in the neighbourhoods on either side of Bayfield Street and Highway 400 north of downtown. Sunnidale, Letitia Heights, Wellington and Cundles East were built mostly from the 1960s through the 1980s, while East Bayfield, West Bayfield and Little Lake are newer. Many of the older homes still have original trim, stippled ceilings and dated kitchens, which makes them good candidates for a repaint.
Painters in South Barrie
South Barrie is where most of the city's growth has gone since the 1980s. Painswick, Holly, Ardagh and Innis-Shore are large family neighbourhoods built mostly from the 1980s through the 2000s, and new communities are still going up along Mapleview Drive in the south end. Many of these homes still have their original builder paint, which scuffs easily and is often the first thing owners want to upgrade.
