Brick and Stucco Painting in Barrie

A coat of colour can take years off a tired brick or stucco front. Masonry has to release moisture, though. Seal it with the wrong product and water stays in the wall, and after a few Barrie winters of freezing and thawing the coating peels and the faces of the bricks can break away.

So the wall is inspected first. Crumbling mortar, white salt deposits and any sign of ongoing damp have to be put right before a coating goes near it. After that the surface is cleaned and allowed to dry out, and we use breathable masonry primers and paints, or mineral stains formulated for brick and stucco.

Should brick be painted at all?+
It can work well on sound brick with a breathable coating. Bear in mind it will need recoating in time and is hard to reverse, which is why we talk it through before starting.
What goes on the brick?+
A breathable masonry paint or a mineral stain, both of which let moisture out. Standard exterior house paint is not the right choice.
Do you paint stucco as well?+
Yes. The stucco is cleaned, cracks are filled and a masonry or elastomeric coating suited to it is applied.
Can you fix the mortar?+
That is a mason's job. Have any repointing done and cured first, and we will paint afterwards.
And a brick fireplace or inside wall?+
Those can be painted too, using products chosen for the surface and for any heat it sees.
